At Junior Jam, we believe providing pupils with a rich and diverse music education is fundamental to helping to unlock their creative potential. Through focussing on a different instrument each half-term, our music provision sets out to allow children a broad range of musical experiences within primary school, giving pupils the foundation to explore their talents and passions.
To ensure compliance with both the national curriculum and the Model Music Curriculum, our qualified and specialist instructors teach three core subjects every year: Music Theory with Keyboards, Songwriting with Glockenspiels and Singing. These are differentiated for each year group to ensure progression throughout the pupil’s school life. In the remaining three half-terms of the year, pupils embark upon three instrumentation courses, in which pupils will have the opportunity to perform on an exciting variety of tuned and untuned instrumentation from a wide range of different cultures.
Additionally, we provide your school with links to our planning, curriculum links, knowledge organisers and progression maps to ensure that you have an understanding of the learning happening in the classrooms, which is useful for your school should you receive a deep-dive into music. These resources can also be used to help you develop your school’s music development plan as suggested by the new National Plan for Music (2022).
